Day 39

Dogs & Heat in Nicaragua

Day 39

Dogs & Heat in Nicaragua

This heat is really hard. Again, I fought all day with the very hot temperatures and the high humidity. After the strong day yesterday, with 300 km and 4,000 meters difference in altitude, I did not really ease up today. We managed almost 280 kilometers and 3,600 difference in altitude.

Meanwhile, we arrived in Nicaragua. We passed the border quickly in less than an hour. It got exciting again in the evening. Just before our last stop, we got one more adrenaline kick. Suddenly, real fighting dogs jumped barking loudly out of the darkness onto the street and chased at after me. Kerstin, who was driving the race car at the time, honked and pushed the dogs off the road. Fortunately, she succeeded because, with such a dog on the leg, the 280 kilometers would have been a little bit more difficult.

I tried to get the most out of the day, so we can try to make the border crossing to Costa Rica tomorrow. We still have 223 km to the border. Keep your fingers crossed for another strong day!
