Day 67

In the Chilean desert: “Pit stop for Ice2Ice”

We met really nice Austrians today! At the turnoff to San Pedro de Atacama, they waved with a sign saying “Pit Stop for Ice2Ice”. Before we even came to Chile, they sent us an email with details about the border crossing and today they had cereal bars with them. Such a nice surprise! Despite the darkness, we had a really nice talk and shared stories about acquaintances. The world is so small sometimes…

Today I cycled about 280 kilometers with a little less vertical meters than yesterday. We have real desert weather. At night it is freezing cold, with a maximum of 1°C. After the sunrise, it does not take long and the sun is so strong that I am back in my shorts. The wind is also better for us. It really comes from all sides, but also from behind! At the moment it is probably 35:1 for the wind. Let’s hope that this turns out to be more in our favor over the next few days!
