Day 10

On the way across Canada

Day 10

On the way across Canada

Today was definitely a good day. Yesterday was just to erase and never think about. This day really showed that we are not here on a request program. On the one hand, I’m not a machine that you hire and then it functions by itself. On the other hand, everything depends on factors that you cannot influence.

Yesterday, for example, that damned smoke was back in the morning for the first two hours. And then, while I was still angry about the very rough roads, a little black bear appeared on the side of the road and put a smile on my lips. If you behave very slowly and quietly, they will not run away!

Bears were not the only animals we saw. We also got to see bison! The situation reminded me a bit of Africa, where at first we were incredibly happy to have seen a giraffe and then it became almost “normal” as we saw more and more. Bison have not become quite normal, but we were already allowed to see a whole herd.

At the moment I have the courage not to give my last shirt yet and to save the energy for the weeks to come (Angelika would certainly have enjoyed it – she made sure in the first week, that I realize that). I still give my body time to adapt. Only when it is “ready”, I will really accelerate! I think you cannot gain anything in the first week or two, but you lose a lot if you exaggerate. If I may briefly quote here one of my childhood heroes:
“It does not matter how many punches (in this case setbacks) you pocket, the main thing is to carry on.” Rocky’s coach
In this sense, I am looking forward to a shower.
