Day 9

On to the Canadian wilderness

Day 9

On to the Canadian wilderness

We wanted to start a bit earlier today and met another cyclist with all his stuff strapped to his bike, who was headed in the opposite direction. It’s really great to see that there are so many cycling enthusiasts here. They always have nice words for me for my long way ahead.

After this nice start, the rest of the day was rather mixed. What can I say, Ice2Ice is an adventure and shows it every day. The Campervan team was lucky enough to see a little bear running across the street right in front of them. They soon realized why the little cub wanted to cross the street – there was a forest fire behind it. Do not worry, the fire was already under control and the bear is fine. However, we suddenly had an insurmountable obstacle ahead of us. unexpectedly, we had to extend our lunch break quite a bit and managed fewer miles today than hoped. For all who had followed the live track, the long standstill was this time due to a fire „block“ and not a  roadblock.

After the road was passable, we did not go too far. The next larger city is about 1,500 km away and we needed to get our organizational things in order first before we head into the Canadian wilderness. We will start again tomorrow morning and are very curious to see what else awaits us there.
