ICE 2 ICE Live Blog
I would say, I am doing okay given to the circumstances. Today we reached the highest point of over 3,800 meters and by now, my body really feels the 3,000 to more than 5,000 vertical meters every day. We decided against a lunch break and I only made small breaks with sandwiches, so that we could safely cross the high mountain before it would suddenly get dark again. My winter gear including heating pads for the shoes by the Heat Company was an absolute must! Without a down jacket, gloves and cloth, it is simply freezing cold.
The departure from the high pass was, unfortunately, no enjoyment – once again. It was not only extremely foggy and got dark quickly. The road itself was in terrible condition with huge craters at irregular intervals. In some places, they were so deep that it was already dangerous with the car to drive over it without extreme caution. One mistake and the axle is off.
We did not want to go further down than the 1,700 vertical meters, where we sleep now, because if my concentration even decreases once or I overlook a pothole in the dark, that would be it.
